The fifth-generation S13 Silvia, introduced in May 1988 with a full model change, became an instant hit upon release. It established itself as the top brand among specialty cars and also received the Good Design Grand Award that same year. Two and a half years later, in January 1991, the model underwent a minor facelift and evolved into the later PS13 version.
