The fittings (outfitting parts) have been newly researched and redesigned, and the molds incorporate numerous slide-mold mechanisms, allowing the kit to accurately reproduce the intricate detail of the 1/700 scale. We present a renewed Water Line Series with even greater precision.

New Mold Additions!

The Chiyoda was a seaplane tender built under Japan’s 1934 Second Naval Armaments Supplement Program. In 1940, she was converted into a midget submarine mother ship, and later, following the loss of major fleet carriers in the Battle of Midway, she was further converted into an aircraft carrier in 1943. During her first engagement, the Battle of the Philippine Sea, she was assigned to the 3rd Fleet, 3rd Carrier Division, and operated Zero fighters equipped with 250 kg bombs in a dive-bombing role. In 1944, she took part in the major naval engagements of the Pacific War—the Battle of Leyte Gulf and the Battle off Cape Engaño—as part of Ozawa’s Mobile Fleet, alongside her sister ship Chitose. She was disabled by attacks from U.S. carrier-based aircraft and subsequently caught and sunk by a cruiser squadron. This kit features a thoughtfully simplified parts composition for ease of assembly while still achieving an accurate and detailed representation. Newly designed fittings such as machine guns and anti-aircraft guns have been added. It effectively captures the fine detail characteristic of 1/700 scale models.
